As I was driving to the local yogurt shop last night, an unfortunate event occurred. A young man decided to pull his car out of a driveway into mine. Everyone is fine. No one is hurt, but I will be sadly inconvenienced for a bit of time with a rental car. Alas, our in very good condition car now has a mar on her record. What I appreciated about all of this though was that even though I was a little flustered by the situation, my attitude was definitely different from all other accidents I’ve been in (yes, there have been a few). Probably due in part to the fact that it wasn’t my fault this time, but also largely due to I think how I’ve matured. My first thought wasn’t about money or the car itself. I was concerned about everyone being ok. Then I was bummed that I’d be inconvenienced and that I’m nervous driving rental cars. Oh well. That’s why they’re called “accidents,” right?
